Write for us
We welcome clear, original pitches that help readers understand a sport, its rules, its choices or its culture. A strong proposal has a defined question and a useful answer that can stand beyond one news cycle.
What to propose
We consider explainers, comparisons, thoughtful histories, myth-checks and occasion-specific pieces grounded in evergreen questions. A pitch should identify the sport or format, the reader it serves, the central idea and what makes the piece distinct from familiar coverage. Practical subjects should be safe for a general reader to use without relying on professional advice or local rule-checking.
What makes a pitch work
Keep the proposal focused: give us a working title, a short account of the argument or approach, the main points you would cover and any relevant sources or experience you can accurately describe. Original framing matters more than a broad topic list. Do not send confidential information or claim access you cannot substantiate.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial option. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; please wait for a response before treating it as accepted. We cannot promise a particular timetable or outcome.
Understanding sport starts with noticing
Scores tell us what happened; the rules, choices and traditions help explain how. We make room for those details, whether you play, watch or are simply curious.
